BOTOX® Cosmetic Toronto

BOTOX | Skin Care | TorontoAs we age, our faces begin to show the effects of gravity, sun exposure and years of facial muscle movement, such as smiling, chewing and squinting. The underlying tissues that keep our skin looking youthful and plumped up begin to break down, leaving wrinkles, laugh lines, smile lines, crow's feet and facial creases.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is commonly used to reduce or eliminate the appearance of facial wrinkles. It is injected under the skin to relax the muscles in the areas surrounding the eyes, forehead, mouth and neck.

Some of the common areas treated with BOTOX® include the frown lines between the eyes, forehead wrinkles, crow's feet around the lateral eyes, upper lip wrinkles and neck wrinkles and bands. It can also be used to give a subtle brow lift and give a pleasing upward turn to the sides of the mouth.

A BOTOX® treatment is an office procedure that is quick, requires no anesthesia or sedation and is quite painless. The results typically last three to six months.

Injectable Fillers Toronto

Injectable soft tissue fillers can help (with or without BOTOX®) to fill in facial lines and creases, temporarily restoring a smoother, more youthful looking appearance. When injected beneath the skin, these fillers plump up creased and sunken areas of the face. They can also add fullness to the lips and cheeks.

Soft tissue fillers can be either synthetic (off the shelf) or from one's own body (see "Fat Injections" below). The most common synthetic filler used today is hyaluronic acid (e.g., Juvederm™, Restylane®, Perlane®), which is a crystal-clear, non-animal, biodegradable gel based on a natural substance found in one's skin. Hyaluronic acid fillers are temporary, lasting six to twelve months. There is also a permanent filler, Artecoll, which is approved for use in Canada.

This is a quick office procedure which depending on where it is to be injected, may or may not require a local anesthetic.

Correction of Hyperhidrosis (Sweating) Toronto

Hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, is an embarrassing condition for many people which can easily ruin one's social and professional life. The most common areas affected are the hands, feet, face and underarms.

BOTOX® has become a breakthrough treatment for these patients. Success was rated at an impressive 83% in 95% of participants in reducing sweating in a clinical study. It typically lasts six to nine months.

Since the treatment is virtually painless, the underarms and face can be treated without anesthesia. For treatment of the hands and feet, local anesthesia is often used to avoid discomfort.
